On the afternoon of the 14th, the group first arrived at Jin’kou Water World, where they boarded bamboo rafts to take in the breathtaking scenery of shimmering lakes and verdant mountains. Towering peaks encircled a sparkling sea of green, the sky was an azure expanse, the lake water a vibrant emerald, and flocks of gulls soared along the horizon where water met sky. Inspired by such a picturesque setting, team members on two rows of bamboo rafts exchanged friendly “greetings” with water guns, creating a lively and spirited atmosphere. Next came the thrilling dragon-boat race. Under the guidance of their coaches, four teams sped down a 360-meter course, their paddlers rhythmically plunging their oars into the water, pushing powerfully, and lifting them cleanly and in perfect unison to the beat of the drummers. As the four dragon boats shot toward the finish line like arrows released from a bow, everyone erupted in triumphant cheers! The dragon-boat race not only strengthened everyone’s physical fitness but also honed their willpower, showcasing the spirit of unity and concerted effort that defines the Qirui team—and embodying the relentless drive to never give up until the very end.

That evening, all senior executives gathered in the hotel’s conference room for the second session of Qirui’s “Management Culture Salon.” This session featured a keynote presentation by Luo Shi, Head of the CMC Pharmaceutical Research Center, on the topic “A Glimpse into Japan’s Renowned Enterprises.” Mr. Luo vividly shared his insights from study visits to internationally renowned companies such as Toyota, Eisai, and Kyocera in Japan, emphasizing that Japanese firms and individuals excel in their meticulous attention to detail and in their courteous and respectful approach to interpersonal interactions—lessons that are well worth learning from. At the same time, he underscored that Japanese culture is a complex amalgamation of seemingly contradictory elements, drawing on Ruth Benedict’s classic work “The Chrysanthemum and the Sword” to offer profound reflections on Japanese society and culture.

Following the sharing session, the event moved on to a tense and spirited debate competition. The first and second teams debated the motion “Fully automated production delivers higher efficiency and lower risk, whereas human–machine collaboration yields higher efficiency and lower risk,” while the third and fourth teams debated “Within an organization, culture is a stronger driver of execution than systems, or conversely, systems are a stronger driver of execution than culture.” From opening statements to free debate, from questions posed by family and friends to closing remarks, the 12 debaters displayed composure, sharp rhetoric, and unwavering adherence to their arguments, showcasing strong communication skills and exceptional resilience under pressure. In the end, following a vote by all participants, Zhang Lijuan, Liu Peipei, and Wei Yanbin were awarded the title of “Outstanding Debater.”

On the morning of the 15th, the company engaged a team of African drum instructors to deliver a unique team-building workshop for all employees. Under the guidance of professional coaches, each participant held an African drum and began with simple high, mid, and low tones, gradually progressing to full passages and complete melodies, before culminating in elaborate performances featuring makeup, dance, and singing—truly a feast for the eyes and ears, evoking the vivid imagery of “drinking under the lamp, I pick up my sword in a drunken haze; in my dreams, I hear the bugle calls echoing through the encampments. Across eight hundred li, I share roasted meat with my troops; on fifty strings, the music of the frontier resounds. In the autumn, I review the army on the battlefield.” Participants unanimously praised the strong sense of involvement and immersive experience, as well as the event’s powerful emotional impact, and expressed hope that the executive office will organize more high-quality team-building activities like this in the future. With this, the two-day Lushan West Lake character-development retreat came to a successful close.
